It arranges what you told it and shows you the distance between where you are on course to arrive and what the life you described would cost. The arithmetic is yours; we built the place to do it.
Every figure it returns is a hypothetical illustration. It is built from what you entered and the assumptions you chose, and it moves when you change them. Change an assumption and the answer changes, which is the point.
No projection of a financial future is a guarantee of one. Markets, tax law, inflation, health, work and the length of a life are not knowable in advance, and no instrument, ours included, can make them so. Treat what you see as a way of thinking about the distance, not as a promise about the destination.
